Govt confirms 2413 dengue cases across country ISLAMABAD: National Health Department reported that 2413 dengue cases have been confirmed across the country, fearing the toll could be rise in days to come.

According to the National Health Department's report, total 2708 dengue patients have been admitted so far and dengue virus has been confirmed in 2413 cases.

In Punjab, 2170 dengue cases have been confirmed and 28 cases have been reported from Islamabad. The report further disclosed that 26 dengue cases were registered from Rawalpindi while 176 cases were registered in Sindh.

Moreover, 8 dengue cases were confirmed in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and 5 cases were reported in AJK. According to the report, so far 5 people died due to dengue fever.

Meanwhile, 33 more patients of dengue fever have been reported in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. These patients are being treated at PIMS and Poly Clinic Hospital Islamabad. Furthermore, state of emergency has been declared at all hospitals in twin cities.

Local authorities have been directed to all possible steps to prevent the rising tolls dengue patients.

Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed concern over the spread of the fever in the country and the loss of lives in the pandemic.

The president directed the federal and provincial government agencies along with other authorities to take immediate measures to curb the spread of dengue.
