Countrywide rains: 29 die in two days KARACHI: Torrential rains continued in Sindh and other parts of Pakistan, as the death toll from rain related incidents rose to 29 in two days, Geo News reported.

Six people including five children died in different rain-related incidents in Sindh. Dadu, Johi, Mehar, K.N. Shah, Sita Road, Kachoo, Bhan Saeed and other towns were being lashed by torrential rains submerging urban and rural areas under 2-6 feet of water. The 15 feet breach in Chinjani branch at village Bakhsh Ali and 20 feet breach in Sanjrani branch at village Goth Phanwar caused by the storm inundated standing crops spread over hundreds of acres of land. Mud houses in New Colony, Farid Colony, Brohi Mohalla caved in, while affectees took refuge in schools and government buildings.

In Khairpur, Bakar Shah and Sura, embankments breached by flash floods coming from Nara hills had overtaken several areas rendering thousands homeless, while Taluka Headquarter Chowandko was being threatened from inundation.

Over two hundred villages of district Badin were inundated by accumulated rain water and two children died from epidemic disease while scores of houses caved in rural areas.

The heavy rain spell in Kashmore and Kandhkot once again aggravated the situation and a husband and wife were injured in a roof collpase at Madiji of Shikarpur area, while their three children died in the incident.

In Nausehro Feroze area of Ward No.4 Moro, one woman died and one person was injured in a roof collapse incident.

Larkana. Qambar, Shahdadkot and Thatta were being lashed by heavy downpour intermittently for the last four days.

On the other hand, in North Waziristan rivers and their tributaries had over flowed causing flood like situation washing away mud houses. Two vehicles were washed away while on way to Tank from Kashmircut of South Waziristan area.

In Punjab, Haroonabad and surrounding areas were inundated by heavy downpour and storm. Darak Lehar river in Dera Ghazi Khan was still flooded, while communication remained suspended in the tribal area of Fazla Kach.
